To ensure the implementation of the 2017-2018 Operational Plans of the EVHRDC, the ExeCom along with the Committee Chairs initiate a general assembly among the member institutions to collectively evaluate the extent of implementation of its planned programs and initiatives as stipulated in the said operational plans. A Mid-Year Assessment and Planning activity has been conducted on July 26, 2017 in Hotel Alejandro, Tacloban City.

The activity aims to assess the overall status and direction of the organization which include the implementation of the committee functions and planned activities for the current year as well the organization’s fiscal management.

Majority of the member institutions were represented by its heads and representatives which have been formally acknowledged by Ms. Rachelle Arape, EVHRDC Staff and eventually formally welcomed by Dir. Edgardo Esperancilla, Co-Chair of EVHRDC ExeCom.  In his message, he stressed the achievement of Cuba, a third world country like the Philippines which managed to become a world leader in the field of medicine. He also urged the participants to indulge in researches and projects which address the health needs of the region. Finally, he gave his salutations to Dr. Edgardo Tulin, President of VSU for the “Most Outstanding Research Administrator Award” he just received during the 2018 National Science & Technology Week (NSTW) held at the World Trade Center, Pasay City on July 17, Tuesday. Furthermore, Dr. Tulin also gave his welcome message and reassurance of VSU’s cooperation in the implementation of research activities of the consortium.

After the opening program, the committee chairs have presented the accomplishment reports covering from January to July, 2018. The reports of the committees; Research Management Committee, Research Information Committee, SOMEC, CBC, ERC, and RIC have eventually given a vivid picture to the members on what has to be done and accomplished in the next 5 months of the CY: 2018-2019. The secretariat also provided a comprehensive presentation on the details of the utilization and management of the budget afforded to each committee. 

Furthermore, committee meetings have also been facilitated by the secretariat to enable the 5 committees of the consortium to review its operational plans and targets, and eventually present its new plans to maximize utilization of the available resources with consideration on the time left to implement those.
