Tacloban City, February 15, 2018 – Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) in collaboration with the EVHRDC, conducts a two- day activity on “Capacity Enhancement on Health Research in Disaster Risk Reduction Management” (Phase I - Orientation to Concepts and Principles) at Hotel XYZ, Tacloban City last February 13-14, 2018. The Resource Persons tapped by PCHRD are Dr. Ofelia P. Saniel, Dr. Ophelia Mendoza, Dr. Teodoro Herbosa, Dr. Dinah Nadera and Dr. Miguel Dorotan.
Using standard concepts, frameworks, and methods, the said activity aims to develop institutional capacities, to design and implement health research projects and translate/ utilize their findings to health policies and programs, and improve practices that will eventually enhance health-related risk reduction initiatives of the country.
As an output, a total of 22 participants attended coming from the different state, colleges and universities (SUCs) and medical institutions in the region. With the number of participants, nine (9) concept papers/capsule proposals were generated/presented, with the abovementioned Resource Persons as the panelists. Participants who will be able to comply with the comments/inputs of the resource persons/panelists on or before the second week of March 2018, they will be required to attend the Development of a Research Proposal (Phase II) scheduled on March 20-22, 2018. At the end of phase II, participants will be able to submit their proposals for technical review and possible funding by the PCHRD.
