Palo, Leyte - With the commitment to enhance its website content for the 2018 PNHRS Best Consortium Website Award, Eastern Visayas Health Research and Development Consortium (EVHRDC) conducted a training on Online Newswriting and Headline Writing at the Seafoods and Ribs Warehouse Restaurant, Palo, Leyte on May 3, 2018.
Spearheaded by the Research Information Committee (RIC), 23 participants, composed of EVHRDC secretariat and members from the different committees of the consortium, attended the said activity.
The consortium tapped Mr. Harold M. Naputo, a Campus Journalist and Regional Trainer for Journalism of the Department of Education (DepEd) as the resource person of the training. Mr. Naputo administered a series of lectures and workshops on newswriting, headline writing, and online blogging to enhance the knowledge and skills of the participants.

Through the conduct of said lectures and workshops, he assessed and gave his comments on how the participants could improve their inputs. At the end of the day, Mr. Naputo gave some pieces of advice on the do’s and don’ts of newswriting.
“Write when you know what you want to say,” he said.

Tacloban City, Leyte - The Eastern Visayas Health Research and Development Consortium (EVHRDC) held its Second Quarter Executive Committee (ExeCom) Meeting along with the Committee Chairs, for the first time in 2018, at The Loft Hotel Function Hall, Marasbaras, Tacloban City last April 17, 2018 where some of the agenda were the approval of the EVHRDC Manual of Operations, the composition of TRB, the Assessment and Evaluation Tools for members and member institutions crafted by SOMEC, and the proposed Cash Award for the Outstanding Health Research & Development Institution.
Present in the meeting were Dr. Minerva Molon – ExeCom Chair, Engr. Edgardo Esperancilla – ExeCom Co-chair, Engr. Ernesto Granada – Consortium Director, Dr. Lucia Dauz – EVHRDC Coordinator, Ms. Resurreccion Enage of NEDA who represented Atty. Bonifacio Uy, and Dr. Filedito Tandinco of UPM-SHS – representing Dr. Salvador Isidro Destura.

Tacloban City, Leyte - The Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) is set to hold the third phase of their series of trainings in the region entitled “Capacity Enhancement on Health Research for Disaster Risk Reduction Management” on April 23-24, 2018 at Hotel XYZ, Tacloban City.
The first among the series was the Orientation to Concepts and Principles for Region 8 which was held last February 13-14, 2018 at Hotel XYZ wherein the primary aim was to orient the participants on the standard concepts, frameworks, and methods used in developing research capacities.

Tacloban City, Leyte - With the continuous aim for excellence, the Eastern Visayas Health Research and Development Consortium (EVHRDC) champions other regions by garnering the most website views as disclosed in the RHRDC Sites Report as of March 2018.
Looking back to the year-end sites report for CY 2017, the EVHRDC website had been one of the six (6) regions who were awarded as the most active websites.
