The Eastern Visayas Health Research and Development Consortium (EVHRDC) demonstrated its unwavering commitment to excellence by conducting the 2016 Midyear Assessment on July 31, 2023. Despite the hustle and bustle of preparations for the upcoming 16th Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) Week, the EVHRDC found time to evaluate its progress and set the course for further achievements at Hotel Alejandro, Tacloban City.
Presided over by the Regional Director of the Department of Health Region 8, and Chair of EVHRDC ExeCom, Dr. Exuperia B. Sabalberino, the assessment covered essential aspects of the consortium's activities. The agenda featured comprehensive presentations and updates from various committees, each contributing vital contributions to the advancement of health research and development in the region.
The midyear assessment commenced with an Accomplishment Report for the 1st Semester presented by Ms. Jean Gay O. Ragub, the EVHRDC Coordinator. This report highlighted the consortium's achievements during the initial months of the year, showcasing the progress made towards fulfilling its objectives.
The assessment further delved into the utilization of funds for the year 2023, providing insights into how financial resources are allocated and utilized for the various health research initiatives. Ms. Leslie Joy L. Calvo, from the EVHRDC Secretariat, presented updates on the EVHRDC-PCHRD (IDD) and EVHRDC-DOH funds, while Mr. Marko Jaise P. Perpinan, also from the EVHRDC Secretariat, discussed updates on EVHRDC-GIA funds.
Moreover, the meeting witnessed the presentation of committee updates, where each committee chair shared the progress and developments in their respective areas. Ms. Josephine L. Hipe presented the updates for Structure, Organization, Monitoring, and Evaluation Committee, Dr. Sherrie Ann Cananua-Labid for the Research Utilization Committee, Dr. Jane R. Borrinaga for the Ethics Review Committee, Dr. Virgilio E. Sabalo for the Capacity Building Committee, and Mr. Leonido P. Olobia for the Research Management Committee.
The event culminated with closing remarks from Engr. Ernesto M. Granada, the Regional Director of the Department of Science and Technology Region 8, and Co-Chair of EVHRDC ExeCom. His encouraging words reiterated the consortium's dedication to promoting research excellence and its vital role in shaping the health landscape of Eastern Visayas.
